How is Insomnia Diagnosed?

Take Your Insomnia Seriously.

We Do.

Diagnosing and treating insomnia requires close attention to health and lifestyle information, as well as individual patient evaluations. CSI is one of the few independent medical clinics in the country that addresses insomnia in all of its complexities.

At Clayton Sleep, we have developed a proprietary process for diagnosing insomnia and other sleep disorders and tailoring treatment for each individual client.

We lead the way in insomnia research and comprehensive care.

How is Insomnia Diagnosed?

We understand how difficult it can be to pinpoint the precise cause of your insomnia. One of the reasons this condition is so complex is because it is often linked with other factors, such as:

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Trauma

  • Sleep habits

  • Hormonal imbalances

  • Chronic pain

At Clayton Sleep Institute, we consider detailed health and lifestyle information, as well as individual patient evaluations, as we seek solutions to your sleepless nights.

Our Proprietary Scientific Procedure Can Help You Find Answers For Your Insomnia

Accurate diagnosis is essential to providing appropriate and successful treatment strategies. The experts at The Insomnia Center have developed a scientific procedure, available only at CSI, to properly diagnose and treat your sleep disorder:

At-Home or In-Clinic Sleep Studies

Depending on your sleep issues, your physician may recommend an at-home or in-clinic sleep study.

If you are asked to perform an at-home test, our technicians will help. At an initial appointment, we will demonstrate how to properly wear the testing equipment and provide you with information on how to prepare for the most effective sleep test. We also give you a 24-hour telephone support line, so you can contact us if you have any questions. When you return the equipment, CSI staff will download and review your results with you and your physician, and then give you next steps depending on your test results.

In-clinic testing is performed at one of our sleep centers. We will schedule your appointment and reserve a room for you, where your study will be supervised by our board-certified sleep specialists, registered sleep technologists, and registered respiratory therapists. Prior to bedtime, your sleep technologist will place several small electrodes on your skin to monitor physiological patterns such as brainwaves, muscle activity, breathing, and snoring. There is no pain associated with this test. As you sleep, CSI technologists will monitor you and review the preliminary results with you in the morning. We will discuss your final evaluations with you and your doctor, and then provide a treatment plan depending on your test results.
