Updates in Sleep Medicine, initiated in 2003 as Midwest Updates in Sleep Medicine, is the premiere independent annual symposium on trends and treatments in sleep medicine, and features nationally- and internationally-recognized physicians and scientists in the forefront of sleep medicine. The CSI Knowledge Center sponsors and operates the annual Updates conference on behalf of and at the direction of the Clayton Sleep Research Foundation, an independent not-for-profit entity.
Nationally and internationally recognized physicians and scientists in sleep medicine are speakers and faculty for conference participants that include primary care physicians, specialty physicians such as pediatricians, cardiologists and pulmonologists, sleep specialists, psychologists, advanced practice nurses, respiratory therapists and polysomnographic technologists.
The conference is planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME). Each year the topics and objectives are submitted for CME accreditation to appropriate and ACCME-approved institutions. USM also submits for continuing education accreditation for nurses, respiratory therapists and polysomnographic technologists.
